BESTE Unveils Fanfold Book BlocksTM

BESTE Bunch, a division of B. Bunch Co., Inc. of Phoenix, Arizona, announced the introduction of its Fanfold Book BlockTM system for print on demand applications.

The system utilizes a patented Bunch Multi-stream Folder together with a proven BESTE Job Separator, all housed in one unit to produce individual book blocks containing all of the printed pages of a book together in one easy-to-handle fanfolded stack. The system can be easily configured to produce standard book sizes.

A typical system includes a BESTE unwind, the customer's choice of digital printers, and a complement of BESTE post processing devices, including a pinless registration control unit, a perf processor, a slitter unit to slit the web into two, three, or four book streams, and a multi-stream Bunch Folder/Separator.

As a final production step, the fanfold book blocks are taken to a perfect binder or casebound book binder and three-knife trimmed to a final cut sheet size.

"It has always been our philosophy that you cut the sheet to its smallest size at the last possible moment," says Ed Bunch of BESTE Bunch.

"With traditional cut sheet output for books, you end up with small, hard to handle blocks with up to hundreds of individual sheets."

The Bunch Fanfold Book Block system provides small packets of continuous sheets. No individual pages can get lost or go askew in the process. Since cutters tend to jam more than folders, there is the additional benefit of more throughput once the job is set up.

BESTE Book Block Folders can be custom configured to meet the needs of each customer's application.
